Williams finally putting career first

In case you haven’t heard, Ricky Williams was tempted to smoke marijuana this weekend during the Miami Dolphins bye week.
Had Williams smoked and been caught, which would have been hard not to catch since he’s tested nine times a month, he would have been out of the NFL for good for violating the NFL’s drug policy four times.

I suppose it is a step in the right direction for Williams — he resisted the urge and told numerous sources, including The Miami Herald.

The running back, who has only played 16 games for the Dolphins since 2004, meditated instead, which gave him the same “feeling of being free.”

The 2002 NFL rushing champion and 1998 Heisman winner also said it’s normal to have the urge to smoke, but has come to the realization that you can pass up the urge that would force him out of the NFL.

I always used to enjoy watching Ricky play. He hasn’t been able to show those skills in several years because his enjoyment of cannibis has caused his suspensions.

Since his suspensions, the Dolphins have drafted Ronnie Brown, who is nearly as fun to watch as Ricky was when he had his dreads. At the beginning of the year, Miami gave Williams the starting job and he promptly lost it.

Maybe this revelation will give the Miami front office some new found confidence in Williams and allow him to split some carries with Brown.

His two year-long suspensions appear to finally be paying off. While he may be clean now, he won’t be forever, but at least he can put his career first.

The ridiculous prohibition of marijuana is why you can’t watch him play.

That is one I never thought of… I usually get upset about the money wasted or the non-violent people being subjected to the horrors of our penal system.

Why is Marijuana Illegal?
