Dantonio mum about depth chart changes

By: Matt Bishop Posted: 09/15/09 2:57pm

MSU head coach Mark Dantonio said the quarterback situation is still status quo and Kirk Cousins and Keith Nichol are both listed at the top of the depth chart with an “OR” designation.

Junior receiver Mark Dell is listed as an “OR” to start with sophomore B.J. Cunningham. At center, senior John Stipek is listed as an “OR” with incumbent starter Joel Nitchman, who missed Saturday’s game with a knee injury.

Elsewhere on the offensive line, right guard is an “OR” between sophomore Jared McGaha and J’Michael Deane.

At free safety, sophomore Trenton Robinson has won the job for now, replacing senior Danny Fortener.

“He makes a lot of plays,” Dantonio said of Robinson. “He camp into camp a little short on experience and we went with the other guy because of the experience. I don’t think Danny Fortener’s played bad, it’s just that Trenton has played very well and has been very, very active.”

Robinson has 13 tackles through two games while Fortener has recorded two.
