Crime blotter: burglary, trespassing, and larceny

Burglary, trespassing and larceny were all reported multiple times last week.

The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety disclosed the incidents under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, which requires universities to publicly list reported criminal offenses and is subject to change as events are reported.

Incidents are distinguished by the date they were reported in crime blotter reports. This week's reported incidents may include incidents from days prior. 

Saturday 6/13

A miscellaneous criminal offense involving damage to a tree near Berkey Hall occurred around midnight.

Multiple subjects trespassing at Munn Ice arena occurred around 1:45 a.m.

Obstructing justice occurred near Mt. Hope and Harrison Road around 9:45 a.m. MSU DPPS reported that this involved a traffic stop leading to the discovery of the subject operating the vehicle without insurance.

An MSU ordinance violation of operating a drone on campus occurred near Beaumont Tower around 5:20 p.m.

Burglary involving entering without permission at Spartan Village was reported to have occurred on June 11, around 6 a.m. MSU DPPS also discovered damage to a door and windows on the scene.

Sunday 6/14

An MSU ordinance violation of dispose of refuse and a related report of multiple subjects trespassing occurred at Munn Ice Arena around 1:30 a.m. MSU DPPS confirmed that the June 13 and 14 reports of trespassing at Munn Ice Arena involved the same subjects.

Another MSU ordinance violation of operating a drone on campus occurred near the Duffy Daugherty Football Building around 2 p.m.

Monday 6/15

Larceny involving a stolen bike occurred at Bailey Hall around 11:30 a.m.

Tuesday 6/16

Non-aggravated assault involving obscenity and indecent exposure occurred at 1855 Place Building 1801 around 8:20 p.m.

Wednesday 6/17

Another report of burglary involving forced entry at Spartan Village Apartments was reported to have occurred on June 11, around 9:30 a.m. MSU DPPS reported that "a few rooms" were broken into.

Thursday 6/18

Operating under the influence of liquor or drugs occurred near Grand River Ave and Abbott Rd around 12:45 a.m.

Burglary involving an unlawful entry with no intent at Spartan Stadium occurred around 9 p.m. MSU DPPS reported this involved one individual trespassing and that no damage to property was reported.

Another instance of burglary involving an unlawful entry with no intent occurred at the Breslin Center around 9:40 pm. MSU DPPS reported this involved two individuals trespassing and that no damage to property was reported.

MSU DPPS also confirmed that the two June 18 trespassing incidents were unrelated to their knowledge.

Friday 6/19

Three separate incidents involving larceny were reported on this day.

The first was reported to have occurred at Brody Hall on June 17 around 5 p.m.

The next was reported to have occurred at Holden Hall on May 1 around midnight.

The final incident was reported to have occurred again at Brody Hall on April 1 around midnight.
