Pregame: Clarkson Game 2

By: Alex DiFilippo Posted: 10/10/09 4:57pm

I don’t want to get too high on this team just yet, but another win tonight would be huge for the MSU hockey team.

To start the season 2-0 would be a big mental boost for the Spartans, especially with two tough road trips coming up in the next two weekends against Maine and Miami (Ohio).

I was shocked with the jump I saw from the Spartans last night and I’m interested to see if they can keep that same intensity rolling tonight.

Comley opted to keep the lines exactly the same as last night, with the exception being senior goaltender Bobby Jarosz, who will get the nod between the pipes for MSU.

Tonight marks only the second start of Jarosz’s career. His first came against Mercyhurst on Nov. 10, 2007 and he earned a 6-2 victory. But last year, Jarosz didn’t see any action, as he was the team’s third goaltender.

Comley said he made the decision to start Jarosz before the Spartans convincing 6-1 win over Clarkson last night.

“Palmy will still be classified as our number one goalie,” Comley said. “But Bobby is going to play more than people might think he’s going to play.”

Forwards:

Freshman Derek Grant, senior Nick Sucharski, junior Corey Tropp
Junior Andrew Rowe, sophomore Daultan Leveille, junior Dustin Gazley
Freshman Kevin Walrod, freshman Chris Forfar, freshman Zach Golembiewski
Freshman Dean Chelios, sophomore Trevor Nill, freshman Anthony Hayes

Defense:
Freshman Torey Krug, junior Jeff Petry
Freshman Zach Josepher, sophomore Tim Buttery
Sophomore Matt Crandell, sophomore Brock Shelgren

Starting goaltender: senior goaltender Bobby Jarosz

Questions: (to be answered at the end of the game)
Will the Spartans power play be productive again tonight?

How will Jarosz look in net for the Spartans?

After recording only two assists last night, can the all-freshmen line be more productive tonight?
