Gymnastics earns bid for NCAA Regionals

March 26, 2012

The MSU gymnastics team’s season has been extended by another couple of weeks as the Spartans earned a berth to NCAA Regionals.

MSU will travel to Auburn and compete on April 7 as the No. 6 seed, along with in-state rival No. 4-seed Michigan.

The Spartans just squeaked into the tournament tied with UIC for the No. 32 spot in the regional qualifying score, or RQS rankings, after placing eighth at the Big Ten Championships this weekend. The top 36 teams earn a spot in regionals.

In the Big Ten, all eight teams qualified for regionals, with Nebraska taking the No. 1 seed in the Salt Lake City Regional.
