Social relations and policy and secondary education junior Jessica Hockensmith was found dead the morning of Nov. 23 in her Lansing home.

Hockensmith’s roommate found her in her room around 11 a.m. and called the Lansing Police Department after seeing Hockensmith laying on her bed and noticing her skin had turned a blueish color, Lansing police Lt. Noel Garcia said.

Garcia said officers arrived on the scene with paramedics and transported Hockensmith to a local hospital, but the responders believe she was dead before they reached her.

The Ingham County Medical Examiners Office performed an autopsy on Hockensmith, but the results are pending, administrative assistant Holly Marsh said.

There were no signs of trauma or struggle and foul play is not suspected, Garcia said.
