Members of the Islamic Center of Greater Lansing, 920 South Harrison Road, will hold a service at 9 p.m. tonight at the center to pray for America in response to the killing of Osama bin Laden, head of terrorist group al Qaeda. The service is open to all community members.

The death of bin Laden and its significance will be discussed after the evening prayer.

Students and other community members, regardless of their religion, should feel free to come to the center to better understand Islam and the Muslim community, said Mahmoud Mousa, president of the center

“If they have any questions, they should come to us and ask us rather than having fear,” Mousa said. “(We want) just to reach out to others and let them feel safe and secure (and) not to (be) scared of the stereotypes (of) those who tried to create Islamophobia.”
