Cardboard sled race held in Lansing

January 21, 2010

Lansing Parks and Recreation and WLNZ radio are hosting a cardboard sled contest from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Gier Community Center, 2400 Hall St., in Lansing.

Participants in the contest are allowed only cardboard, tape and glue in the sled-making process, although decorating sleds with paint and other materials also is encouraged.

Sled builders are divided into separate age groups and compete to win awards for fastest sled, best design and “because we felt like it” in each group.

The competition has a $5 entry fee for each sled, with all proceeds going toward sending area children to Mystic Lake Camp.
