The No. 8 MSU field hockey team finished its first Big Ten championship regular season with an impressive 5-1 victory against Penn State on Saturday in University Park, Pa.
Senior midfielder Floor Rijpma scored four minutes into the game and finished with her third hat trick of the season.
The Spartans finished the Big Ten schedule with a 6-0 record — the first undefeated conference run in school history.
MSU hosts the Big Ten Tournament next weekend as the No. 1 seed and will get a first round bye. The Spartans play at 12:15 p.m. Friday against the winner of Iowa and Michigan.
