Annual celebration returns to Lansing

By Carter Moulton (Last updated: 11/17/09 8:18pm)

The 25th annual Silver Bells in the City will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in downtown Lansing.

The event will also include horse-drawn wagon rides and performances by more than 50 local arts and cultural institutions throughout downtown Lansing.

Highlights include the Electric Light Parade, which includes local and national participants such as Capital Area Transportation Authority, Michigan Army National Guard and Sparrow Hospital.

Also scheduled is the annual lighting of Michigan’s official Christmas tree, followed by a fireworks display over the Capitol, assuming the weather permits for the festivities to continue.

This once-a-year holiday event is free and open to the public.
