A tree grows outside the home where Brandon D’Annunzio once lived, marking almost nine years that have passed since he was killed in a 2000 East Lansing homicide. For his mother, Shawn D’Annunzio, the tree, now more than six feet tall after almost nine years, is a grave site — a place to pray and something she can see grow now that she cannot watch her son age.

Sgt. Mike Phillips is just trying to cover the East Lansing Police Department’s butts!!! I,(Brandon’s mother),am the one who made up the posters and the flyers, who has gone on television and had the newspaper articles about Brandon’s death put into several papers. They never did anything!

I talked to the students at Michigan State one year through the Mayor’s office in hopes of helping other families so that the same thing would not happen to their child and the next year when I called to apeak again, they told me I could no longer talk to the students!!!! Guess it was because they knew that the three involved in Brandon’‘s death were still not found and they did not want any more publicity.

If they have been working on Brandon’s case, this is new to me. I have no idea who Sgt. Phillips is,nor have I ever had a call form the East Lansing Police Department since he died. I have had to call! They are just waiting for the people who are involved to walk in and admit they were responsible for Brandon’s death! My mother quotes,
“All the East Lansing mPolice Department ever did for us was to hang around the hospital for the time Brandon was in critical condition to see if he was going to die. After that, we never heard from them again!!! Now, I ask you………is this the police work you would like if it was your child killed?

My email address is shawnsec@yahoo.com if anyone has a comment or any information leading to the arrest of the persons responsible. Maybe I can so more to receive closure to my son’s death!

This email will probaly be deleted because “I am the mother” who really knows the truth and has stated it in this comment section. I will look tomorrow to see if it has been. I will hope the paper does the right thing and does not give credit to the ones who do not deserve it and prints my statement.

I am glad you think the story is “interesting”, but our families think the point is not to be interesting but to maybe help in the capture of the people responsible. A “nice job” would be for the police to solve both cases.

	Thank you.
