Human biology senior Amanda Keedle, psychology graduate student Rome Meeks and dietetics senior Amanda Marie Lange express their concerns about MSU’s new concealed gun policy. MSU now allows concealed weapons on campus — but not in buildings — assuming the holder has proper permits.

I’d feel much safer. Contrary to what Ms. Lange says above, violence on campuses or in schools and churches were not due to the legal use and ownership of a properly licenses CCW permit holder. Why do you think the whackjobs target colleges, schools and churches? Because the know they will be the only one with a gun.

And really, SN, did you have to make this little gig so biased? You couldn’t find ONE respondent to dissent. C’mon, this is a cow college for pete’s sake. It wouldn’t have been that hard to find a student who grew up on a farm and has actually seen a gun before.

Personally, I feel much safer. Now I know that if I’m concealing somewhere in E.L. and go to pick up my roommate, I can take my LICENSED gun on campus with me. Can’t take it to class, but at least any nut job who tries to go shooting on campus will know that he is now limited to one building… Let’s hope he picks a small one!

And lets be honest, SN isn’t exactly known for the most unbiased opinion section… they say what THEY want told, not how it is.

Good, half of the student body will be armed and ready to take out the U.N. troops amassing at Farm Lane and Service Road.

You liberals are completely clueless. You honestly believe that someone who has the capacity to shoot and kill someone in cold blood is going to pay attention to a concealed weapon ban on campus in the first place? Only good patriotic, law abiding citizens will register concealed weapons.

I personally feel much safer and am glad the university is not directly violating my 2nd amendment right. Now lets push for unrestricted carry on campus, now is the time to do so.

It defies logic to believe that someone who has taken the responsibility to protect themselves and who carries a gun legally and safely at banks, restaurants, and grocery stores will suddenly change their behavior the minute they cross an imaginary line and step onto campus.

This will not be a problem, just like the change to Michigan being a shall-issue CCW state in 2001 was not a problem. Hopefully Michigan will soon follow Utah and Arizona in full recognition of CCW rights on campus, including in classrooms, etc.
