Take a peek behind the curtain and test drive the NEW StateNews.com today!

Hello, my name is Josh Halka

Medical technology junior Josh Halka has been a member of the MSU Badminton Club since his freshman year.

“It’s fun hanging out with people from different cultures,” Halka said. “We play pickup games.”

The Badminton Club practices three times a week for two hours. At the practices, the members play games with each other and can play as many or as few games as they choose.

“I play as much as I can,” Halka said. “Sometimes 10 to 15 games in a practice.”

Since there aren’t tryouts, the Badminton Club is open to anyone interested.

Halka says that the most common misconception people have is that badminton is like tennis.

“It’s a sport that requires balance, finesse and intelligence — as opposed to strength,” Halka said. “It’s way more intense than people think.”
