Okemos resident B.J. Rycus has been shutting his car off at drive-thrus, consolidating car trips and spending less time on the road, he said.

With Lansing-area gas prices approaching $4, Rycus said he is getting more pessimistic at the pump because of the amount of driving his work requires.

Gas companies will continue increasing prices until people make changes in the way they consume gas, he said.

AAA Michigan spokesperson Jim Rink said Sunday’s gas average in Lansing was $3.82 per gallon.

I think that shutting off your car in drive-thrus is the best idea ever to save money if you are a moron. It is wrong on so many levels.
My personal plan to save money is to stop using gas to help ignite piles of 100 dollar bills, because the price of gas is $3.80 a gallon.

Maybe he should consider eating at home to save money? That idea might be too complex for him to grasp.

“Gas companies will continue increasing prices until people make changes in the way they consume gas” That statement could not be more on the mark! Unless we as consumers change what we are doing, the prices will continue to soar. Right now, all the oil companies see is us complaining, but taking NO action about it. Why would they reduce the price if they know we’ll continue to buy it, no matter how high the price goes?

We cannot do anything about it but be smarter. We as daily drivers in America hardly control the price of oil. Goods will still be shipped on boat or plane or by water. Loose regulations still see huge growth in developing countires outside of the US. Plus gas in Europe is $12 a gallon. 12 DOLLARS, they have smaller cars and don’t drive as much or as far, plus their money is worth more than ours and they are in a worse situation than us. I am sorry but we can’t do crap about it

So this is how the students treat alumni, Mark! Shunning the drive-thru and going into the bank to make deposits for my business saves gas. Period. I wasn’t referring to skipping the drive-thru at McDonalds or Starbucks. Maybe if you graduate from my fine University some day you will be able to have your own business.

Buy Motorcycles, and help fight for free motorcycle parking on campus! You can park a scooter near a bike rack on campus. Can you do the same for a motorcycle?
