Mich. Democratic Party nixes primary

After months of uncertainty, the Michigan Democratic Party announced Friday that it will not hold a “redo” primary, according to The Associated Press.

Michigan, along with Florida, was stripped of its convention delegates for its decisions to move up the state primary without the consent of the national Democratic Party.

The decision could nullify the role that either state will play in the selection of a Democratic presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention in August if the two campaigns cannot come to an agreement as to how to split the delegates.

Initially scheduled for Feb. 5, the Michigan primary was moved to Jan 15. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., pulled his name from the ballot, while Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., did not, and won.
