MSU ups record to undefeated 4-0
MSU field hockey came out of Labor Day weekend with its undefeated record intact.
After shutting out Boston 3-0 on Sunday, the Spartans upped their record to 4-0.
“I can’t remember the last time the Spartans went 4-0 to start off the season,” said MSU head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. “What’s more important in this game is that we continue to grow as a team.”
Only allowing Boston zero penalty corners and four shots throughout the game, MSU easily dominated with 12 corners and 25 shots.
The weekend proved to be especially great for sophomore back Jeamie Deacon who, after contributing two goals and an assist in the last week’s match-ups, was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
With a preseason ranking of 19, van de Kerkhof is anxious for the new rankings to come out Tuesday, where the Spartans will likely move up.
