The No. 2 men’s basketball team will have a chance to win the Big Ten title outright for the first time since 2009 when the team travels to play the Badgers in the last regular season game  Sunday.

MSU clinched at least a share of the conference title Tuesday night at the Breslin Center on senior night when it beat Illinois, which was potentially the last home game for sophomore stud Miles Bridges and freshman stand-out Jaren Jackson Jr.

Ohio State University is the only other team in contention for a share of the conference crown. The Buckeyes are a half game behind the Spartans and kept their title hopes alive by outlasting Indiana in double overtime Friday night in their regular season finale. Should MSU lose on Sunday, the Buckeyes will be co-owners of the conference championship along with the Spartans.

After finishing last season with a 27-10 record and an appearance in the Sweet 16, the Badgers have struggled mightily this season under head coach Greg Gard.

Despite the disappointing season up to this point, the Badgers are winners of three straight games, including a four-point win over No. 9 Purdue. Led by junior forward Ethan Happ, who puts in 18 points per contest, Wisconsin averages just more than 72 points per game while boasting a 36 percent 3-point percentage and a 45 percent overall shooting percentage.

The Spartans average better than 82 points per contest while shooting better than 51 percent from the field and 42 percent from three. Bridges leads the team in scoring with just more than 17 points per game.

The Flint native is also cleared to play Sunday after a Yahoo report revealed his mom, Cynthia Bridges, allegedly receiving a $400 advance and $70.05 dinner from Christian Dawkins — an associate of former NBA agent Andy Miller — on May 3, 2016.

The Spartans are 72-57 against the Badgers all time and 3-3 in the last six outings.

Predictions
