Update 2:35 p.m.

The meeting was canceled because election results are not yet official, Communications Coordinator Mikell Frey said.

Results should be confirmed by Wednesday and a special meeting will be scheduled for early next week, if the timing works, Frey said.

More information will come after results are finalized.

The East Lansing City Council special meeting for Monday night has been cancelled.

Newly elected member Aaron Stephens and reelected member Ruth Beier were supposed to be sworn in at the meeting.

A new mayor and mayor pro tem were also supposed to be elected by the city council.

No reason for cancelling the meeting was given and a new date and time has not been set yet, according to a press release.
