MSU police announced via a statement that Wednesday morning the department discovered a body on the south side of campus.
According to the release, the body was discovered at about 11:40 a.m. in a heavily wooded area east of the Baker Woodlot. Positive identification as well as cause and manner of death are pending, the release stated.
The email stated police do not suspect foul play and do not believe there is any threat to the campus community. More information will be released as it becomes available, according to the email.
MSU spokesman Jason Cody said the Ingham County Coroner and Medical Examiners' office should know by Thursday. Cody could not comment on whether or not the body found was French senior Patrick Kegan Cochrane, who went missing earlier this week.
