Former MSU basketball player and current Los Angeles Clipper Branden Dawson was arrested early Sunday morning on alleged domestic violence charges, according to a TMZ report.

The rookie was taken into police custody at approximately 7:30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and was booked nearly an hour later. He was released after posting the $50,000 bond a few hours later.

Rosario Herrera, an LAPD officer, told The Associated Press that Dawson was taken into custody near the team’s practice facility in the Playa Vista area on Los Angeles’ west side. The incident involved Dawson’s girlfriend, according to the report.

Dawson had just been recalled from the Erie BayHawks Saturday morning. The BayHawks are one of the Clippers’ NBA Development League affiliates. Dawson has appeared in three games for the Clippers this season.

During his time with MSU, Dawson shot 55.9 percent from the field and tallied 902 total rebounds in his collegiate career. Dawson with the 56th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
