The East Lansing Police Department is investigating two reports of criminal sexual conduct involving drivers with a transportation network company, according to an ELPD statement sent out Friday.

The victims were female MSU students in both cases and were picked up near downtown East Lansing by a rideshare driver. In both cases, the victims reported that the driver made unwelcome sexual advances towards them.

Rideshare services do not follow the same regulatioms as traditional taxi companies with the Greater Lansing Taxi Authority. ELPD is urging people to be cautious when riding with strangers and to consider always riding with a friend.

ELPD Lt. Scott Wriggelsworth was not available for further comment.

The two cases are openly being investigated and if anyone else in East Lansing feels they have been victimized, ELPD asks they contact the police at (517) 351-4220.
