SCM World, a talent development partner for leading supply chain management companies, ranked MSU number one on their list of Top 15 Supply Chains Schools of 2015.

The list, which measures student talent, was ranked according to employer preference. MSU was preferred by supply chain executives over the runner up, Penn State, by a total of 25 first-place votes.

The latest rankings mark the second straight year MSU has taken SCM World's top spot, and the fourth straight year MSU has topped U.S. News & World Report’s rankings.

“I think our program did a good job preparing us for multiple areas,” Supply Chain Management Association President and supply chain management senior Kevin Cronin said. “We focus on all three aspects of supply chain management: operations, logistics, and purchasing and procurement."

The Eli Broad College of Business also recently constructed a $15.5 million research institute for value chain management in 2013 in Midland, Mich. The institute conducts research in areas such as resource management, analytics, security, and sustainability and also provides graduate studies and seminar series' for students, according to its website.

"The top universities, especially Michigan State, Penn State and Arizona State, all make a point of fighting through entrenched interests in more classical subject areas, including operations and marketing to cultivate a holistic view of supply chain," industry veteran and SCM World writer Kevin O'Marah wrote in his article

O'Marah went on to write that SCM World's ranking is more of a "beauty contest" unlike U.S. News & World Report's rankings which use formulae to create their rankings.

Bachelor of Arts or Master of Science degrees in supply chain management are available at MSU's Eli Broad College of Business and Eli Broad Graduate School of Management.
