A two-week, full-road closure of Abbott Road between Saginaw Street and Whitehills Drive will begin Monday, July 20 for construction of an ongoing major street project, according to a city statement.
The closure is projected to last two weeks and will be in effect day and night. The guided detour route from the north end of the project will be east on Saginaw Street to Alton Road, south on Alton Road to Burcham Drive and west on Burcham Drive to Abbott Road, according to the statement.
Abbott Road, between Burcham Drive and Whitehills Drive, will be closed to the general public during the same time frame, but local traffic will be maintained to the best extent possible in order to provide access to commercial properties in the area, according to the statement.
A prior release stated the construction is due to the need for the replacement of an entire cross section.
