Prized basketball recruit decommits from MSU

May 8, 2015

In a strange turn of events MSU's prize recruit in the class of 2015 has decommitted. No. 9 overall prospect and No. 3 center Caleb Swanigan has reportedly backed out of his commitment to the Spartans.

Swanigan announced his commitment less than a month ago on April 10 and a little over a week ago he was supposedly "100 percent" committed.

Nothing official has come out yet, but multiple sources are reporting his decommitment and naming Purdue as a favorite to land him.

A bonafide top-10 class with Swanigan now takes a major hit. The class for head coach Tom  Izzo is still a talented group of young men—6-8 power forward, McDonald's All-American, Michigan Mr. Basketball and the No. 22 overall prospect Deyonta Davis; 6-5 four-star shooting guard Kyle Ahrens and another four-star 6-5 shooting guard and No. 85 overall prospect Matt McQuaid.
