Individuals await news after being evacuated Mar. 18, 2015 from the Veterinary Medicine Center on 736 Wilson Rd. A natural gas leak was confirmed.

UPDATE: MSU spokesman Jason Cody said the gas leak occurred during construction at the Cyclotron's construction site, and utility crews are on the scene for repairs. Students are still advised to avoid the immediate area.

The area around Wilson road and Bogue Street has been evacuated due to reports of a natural gas leak.

An MSU alert said the Cyclotron was the only building evacuated, conflicting with reports on the ground, but students are being told to "avoid the area." An updated MSU alert said the Cyclotron is no longer evacuated and the building is safe. Police are checking other buildings in the area. One student in class at Veterinary Medical Center said her class was interrupted by police who told them to leave the building.

MSU police have blocked off Wilson Road near Bogue Street while the fire department investigates.

WLNS reported that traffic was being diverted from a half-mile radius, but that has not been confirmed.
