MSU announced that junior guard Kiana Johnson has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules. No further details are known at this point.
The announcement was made prior to the women basketball team’s 69-53 defeat of Illinois on the road Wednesday night.
This is the second suspension of Johnson’s career.
She missed the first nine games of last season with former Spartan Akyah Taylor for violating NCAA guidelines regarding the receipt of extra benefits.
Johnson also missed two games earlier this year because of a heart infection.
Johnson is in the midst of a career season, averaging 8.4 points and six assists.
She boasts a 2.9 assist-to-turnover ratio in conference play, leading the Big Ten in that category.
