The man police believe initiated a series of sexual assaults in East Lansing during the summer is facing charges for a similar incident that occurred in late March, court documents show.
Oswald Scott Wilder, 26, was arrested and arraigned last month for allegedly sexually assaulting three females in various off-campus locations in April and May. He is scheduled to appear in 54B District Court Sept. 24 for a pretrial conference.
The Vernon, Mich. resident was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration and one count of gross indecency between male and female by a sexually delinquent person. He is also being charged as a habitual offender.
Court documents indicate Wilder will face an additional count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and a count of unlawful imprisonment for an earlier incident, which reportedly took place March 30 on the 1100 block of Grand River Avenue.
For the second count, Wilder is accused of holding the victim against her will.
The other alleged assaults occurred around midnight April 20 on Coolidge Road, 3 a.m. April 26 in the 300 block of Charles Street and 8 p.m. May 16 in the Abbott Pointe Apartments parking lot.
If he’s found guilty of the crimes, Wilder faces life in prison.
Court records show Wilder has been convicted of several crimes, including home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, breaking and entering and retail fraud. He served about three years of prison time on the breaking and entering charge between 2008-2011 before he was discharged, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
None of his previous offenses were sexually related.
Wilder reportedly suffered from addictions to crack cocaine and heroin and has a warrant for his arrest in Indiana regarding possession of cocaine and related paraphernalia.
He currently is being held in Ingham County Jail without bond.
