The investigation following the fire that started in Morrill Hall during the evening of May 15 officially has been closed, according to MSU Police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. The cause of the fire remains undetermined and there was no indication of arson, she said.

Morrill Hall was in the early stages of being demolished when a fire started near the roof and thick smoke was seen billowing from the building around 7 p.m. Officials were unable to comment on the cause of the fire until Monday afternoon.

The building’s demolition has resumed and currently is on schedule, McGlothian-Taylor said.

Demolition is scheduled to be completed by September.
