Editor’s note: Although WLNS Channel 6 News originally reported a stabbing occurred, Meridian Township police could not confirm that information as of 8:30 p.m. Saturday and a release from the department made no mention of a stabbing.

An MSU student was pronounced dead this weekend after police responded to a call for a life-threatening injury in Meridian Township, according to a release from Meridian Township police.

Nutritional sciences senior Andrew Singler, 23, was pronounced dead at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital after a roommate transported him from the 6200 block of Rothbury Way at Castle Pointe Apartments early Saturday morning.

The investigation is ongoing, and a suspect currently is in custody. The suspect is scheduled to go before a judge Sunday or Monday.
