Desire2Learn launches for students, faculty Tuesday

October 30, 2012

Tuesday, MSU’s new online learning management system, Desire2Learn, or D2L, was launched and is now available for faculty to begin using, according to a news release from MSU Information Technology.

Faculty who wish to use the new system can start building courses for the spring 2013 semester, when courses will be available on both D2L and ANGEL.

ANGEL will remain available until the spring 2015 semester.

Tuesday marks the beginning of D2L’s phase one launch, including an ability to sign in using an MSU ID. Students can sign in and view the site, but no courses are available yet.

More features will be implemented in phase two in April 2013, including iClicker capabilities, according to the release.

There will be a conversion tool available in ANGEL beginning mid-November to help faculty switch ANGEL classes to D2L.

The free “Getting Started with Desire2Learn” training sessions will be available throughout November in the Main Library.
