MSU long snapper Moore’s career over after injury

July 25, 2012

Junior snapper Steve Moore’s football career has ended due to an injury. According to a release from the athletics department, Moore fractured his C4 vertebra Saturday after jumping from the back of a boat and hitting a sandbar.

He did not experience any loss of sensation and has full use of all extremities, and will be consulting with doctors about probable surgery.

The loss of Moore, who appeared in three games last year primarily as the backup, puts MSU in a predicament after long snapper Matt Giampapa transfered to Tennessee.

Moore handled the long snapping during MSU’s Outback Bowl victory over Georgia, as Giampapa was suspended for the game.

What often is seen as an insignificant job on the team now is a big question heading into the 2012 season for MSU.
