Spartan Dischords concert marks 20th anniversary
The Spartan Dischords, an all-male a cappella group, will celebrate its 20th anniversary today. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Exhibit highlights student work
An eclectic mix of traditional paintings, electronic art and statues has transformed the Kresge Art Museum for the 2002 Undergraduate Art Exhibition. An accumulation of a year of hard work, the art show opened last week and runs through April 28. It is an exhibition of judged art, from art department courses, including ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Roughly 200 people attended Fridays opening day as they crammed into the corridor of the Kresge Art Center to listen to Chairman Jim Hopfensperger announce the shows winners. A constant flow of art enthusiasts then moved to the gallery to view the student art on display. Jenclare Gawaran, an art education junior had a drawing piece in the show titled Branded. I dont think people realize there is a creative side to this university, she said.
Coach retires after nearly 4 decades
After 37 years as MSUs head diving coach, John Narcy will finally leave the pool. Narcy, 66, brought closure to his collegiate coaching career at the 2002 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, on Saturday. The Spartans only diving representative, senior Carly Weiden, placed 11th in the one-meter dive and 24th in the three-meter dive. I had a great farewell, Narcy said.

Womens swimming, diving places 10th in Big Ten Championships
The womens swimming and diving team (8-5 overall, 1-4 Big Ten) placed 10th at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor during the weekend. Senior diver Carly Weiden won the 3-meter dive and placed third in the 1-meter dive.
