MSU volleyball to travel east, remain positive despite slow start

Last week’s tough tournament hasn’t dimmed the MSU volleyball team’s outlook on the season. The team, which lost to No. 10 Cal Poly and No. 22 Wichita State on way to an 0-3 start, will work on limiting errors if it wants to turn its season around when it travels to the Delaware Invitational this weekend.

Young Spartans head to Okla. for season-opening Sooner Invitational

The resounding theme of the offseason for the MSU volleyball team has been youth. In the offseason, the team brought in the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation according to PrepVolleyball.com, a major collegiate volleyball recruiting site. Every one of those players will have to contribute to a squad with only three upperclassmen.

Young team prepares for season during scrimmage

New players and new rules will dictate the beginning of the season for the MSU volleyball team. The Spartans, who held their annual Green and White game Saturday, only have three upperclassmen on the team this season and have been picked to finish eighth in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin athletics was celebrating both at home and in East Lansing on Saturday. The MSU volleyball team (9-7 overall, 0-4 Big Ten) felt the same pain in East Lansing as the MSU football team did in Madison.

Sister, Sister: Duo lights up court

They both top out at 6 foot 1, love volleyball and share mirror images in every aspect besides hair color. But that is where the similarities end for sisters Ashley and Megan Schatzle. The sisters, who are both members of the MSU volleyball team, are admittedly as different as can be.
