MSU commit Cassius Winston adds state title to his hardware collection

U-D Jesuit senior point guard and 2016 MSU basketball commit Cassius Winston had one more goal he wanted to accomplish for his high school basketball career. Already four time Catholic League champion and 2016 Hal Schram Mr. Basketball Award winner, Winston wanted to achieve something which had twice alluded him in the state semifinals in 2014 and 2015 -- an MHSAA Class A state championship. MSU sweeps Rutgers, wins in come from behind fashion

On a gorgeous spring afternoon in East Lansing, the Spartans hosted Rutgers for the third and final game of a weekend series to kickoff the start of Big Ten play. After a doubleheader on Saturday, MSU completed the series sweep in come from behind fashion to defeat the Scarlet Knights by a final score of 6-5.

58 MSU student athletes named Academic All-Big Ten

A total of 58 MSU student athletes were recognized Wednesday for earning Academic All-Big Ten Honors in winter sports. According to a press release from the Big Ten Conference, to be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The Big Ten honored a total of 780 student athletes, including 12 with perfect GPAs, four of which from MSU -- women's swimming and diving's Courtney Aycock, Rebecca Berman and Heidi Surdyk, and wrestling's Joe Johnson.
