Win over U-M sets up same old song and dance

Overcoming their three game losing streak with a win against U-M, MSU men’s basketball (13-8 overall, 5-4) will be on the road in their next game against Nebraska (10-11 overall, 4- 5). Head coach Tom Izzo and the rest of the team will have to hope that Aerosmith’s ‘Same old Song and Dance’ isn’t being played through the speakers at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

FINAL: Winston, Bridges push MSU past U-M to snap losing streak

Technical fouls, blood drawn and words exchanged, all important ingredients for a rivalry game. Led by the freshmen class, MSU men's basketball (13-9 overall, 5-4) shake off the three game losing streak to eek past Michigan (14-8 overall, 4-5) 70-62. The freshmen class received their first invite to play in the in-state rivalry and three of four the highly acclaimed freshmen showed their offensive abilities, forward Miles Bridges, forward Nick Ward and guard Cassius Winston all scoring in double digits.

MSU football continues to add recruits as Signing Day nears

Just more than a week after four-star linebacker Antjuan Simmons committed to MSU, head coach Mark Dantonio acquired three more recruits from the class of 2017 this week as strong-side defensive end DeAri Todd, cornerback Tre Person and wide receiver Raheem Blackshear verbally committed to the Spartans.ch A three-star prospect from Clearview High School in Lorain, Ohio, Todd is ranked No. 2,052 in the nation and No. 98 among strong-side defensive ends, according to 247Sports composite rankings.ch Todd had made two official visits to MSU, but the Spartans had yet to offer.

FINAL: Bridges scores career-high 33 as Spartans fall short at home against Purdue

The last time MSU met with Purdue, the stakes were much larger. It was the 2016 Big Ten Tournament championship game and the Spartans came away victorious for head coach Tom Izzo’s fifth conference tournament title. Nearly a year later, the No. 20 Boilermakers (17-5 overall, 6-2 Big Ten), would strengthen their bid with another conference win Tuesday, after defeating the Spartans (12-9 overall, 5-4 Big Ten), 84-73.
