The MSU football team (3-7, 1-6 Big Ten) was able to end their seven game losing streak in emphatic fashion this past Saturday –– a 49-0 beat down of lowly Rutgers. The victory had the Spartans in good spirits, as head coach Mark Dantonio said it seemed like “we'd won the championship,” the way the locker room celebrated the victory.
MSU men's basketball take to Madison Square Garden in New York City for their next high profile battle against the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats in the Champions Classic. The Spartans hold a record of 3-2 in the Champions Classic, however hold a 3-11 record in Madison Square Garden, 3-7 under Head Coach Tom Izzo. MSU last met Kentucky in the Champions Classic in 2013, when the Spartans finished victorious 78-74, former guard Keith Appling led with 22 points.
Just one game into the MSU men's basketball season, freshman forward Miles Bridges picked up an honor, being named Co-Big Ten Freshmen of the Week.

Gary Trent Jr., son of former NBA player Gary Trent, selected the Blue Devils this evening over the Spartans and Bruins. Trent Jr. was believed to select Duke, according to 247sports, though head coach Tom Izzo recruited Trent Jr. extensively.
