Spartan volleyball team preps for home NCAA Tournament game against Fairfield

No. 15 MSU volleyball will be hosting a few games of the first round of the NCAA tournament. As the 9th seed in the tournament, MSU will be playing Fairfield University for the first time. With hopes to continue to the second round of the NCAA tournament, MSU will have to come up with a game plan that allows it to beat Fairfield. Here are three things you should know about the Fairfield Stags.

DURHAM, N.C. — After over 13,000 miles on the road in nearly a month, including trips to Hawaii, New York City, and the Bahamas, the MSU men’s basketball team (4-4 overall) nearly finished the season’s gauntlet in upset fashion as the unranked Spartans fell to No. 5 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium by a final score of 78-69.

Late Sunday evening, the MSU volleyball team welcomed good news regarding its impending journey in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans earned the overall No. 9 seed and will host Fairfield University, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, or MAAC, champions. The match against the Stags is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Jenison Field House.

The Lansing State Journal reported Monday evening that fifth-year senior safety Demetrious Cox was arrested Nov. 24 at 3 a.m. and cited with for misdemeanor assault.

Struggling for their first win against the AP top 25 (0-3), MSU men's basketball (4-3) will face No. 5 Duke Blue Devils (6-1) in their first true road game on Tuesday. This game will end the long standing travel for MSU as the team has already covered trips to Hawaii, New York City and Bahamas.
