The Spartans had done it — again. For the eighth time in the last 10 years under head coach Mark Dantonio, MSU claimed state supremacy in its 14-10 win over the Michigan Wolverines.

The Spartans knew that if they were going to upset No. 7 Michigan Saturday night in Ann Arbor, they were going to have to create ways to run the ball more efficiently and win the turnover battle. When the rain had let up and the clock read 0:00 Saturday night, the Spartans did just that, and MSU won 14-10. The Spartans rushed for 158 yards and finished with a plus-5 turnover margin.
