In a back-and-forth game, it was Massachusetts who managed to escape late with a victory.
The offense powered the hockey team on Friday night against Massachusetts.MSU (1-0 overall) defeated UMASS (0-2 overall) at Munn Ice Arena in their regular season opener, 5-3.
After MSU looked impressive in the first two periods to take a 2-1 lead, the Lancers came back to tie it and win in a shootout.
