Trey Augustine's "rock" presence in net aids MSU hockey's sweep against No. 1 Wisconsin

After an eventful weekend at Munn Ice Arena, the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans pulled off a sweep against the No. 1 team in the country, the University of Wisconsin. Saturday's win marked the Spartan's first series sweep over a top-ranked team in over a century. It was clear to see the progress in the MSU skaters over the Wisconsin series, but the one player who truly shined over the weekend was true freshman goalie Trey Augustine. Augustine tallied a total of 60 saves on the weekend and had over a .92 save percentage both nights of play against the No. 1 ranked Badgers.

After an eventful first game at Munn Ice Arena where Michigan State pulled an upset Friday night against No. 1 Wisconsin with a final score of 4-2, the Spartans completed the sweep against the Badgers Saturday with a final score of 3-2.

After an eventful night around campus for Michigan State, but inside Munn Ice Arena, the MSU hockey team took a 4-2 win as they upset the No. 1 team in the world of college hockey. The Spartans handed the Wisconsin Badgers their first Big Ten loss of the season.

After a hard fought first night at Munn Ice Arena where the Spartans and the Badgers faced off for a top 15 matchup, the Spartans were able to upset the Wisconsin Badgers with a final score of 4-2.

Gavin O'Connell leads MSU hockey in goals after another multi-goal weekend

After a split weekend against Penn State, the Michigan State hockey team pulled out a win for night two with a score of 5-3. Along with the win, night two showcased an outstanding two-goal performance from freshman forward Gavin O'Connell making him the leading goal scorer for the team.

The Michigan State hockey team came into Munn Ice Arena for a 4 p.m. puck drop looking for revenge over the shootout loss the team was dealt against Penn State Friday night in game one. The Spartans were able to pull off a win on night two for a series split with a score of 5-3.

Michigan State hockey penalty kill unit shines in series against Canisius

While the Spartans made a valiant effort all around this weekend, winning the first game 6-3 and the second 4-3, one thing that stuck out the most for the squad was the efficiency of the penalty kill unit during the highly penalized series. There was a total of 56 Spartan penalty minutes between the two games, but MSU only allowed two goals on seventeen penalties and even garnered two short-handed goals.

The Michigan State hockey team rounded out another weekend series with an electric crowd at Munn. The team secured their second sweep of the season after defeating the Canisius Golden Griffins on Friday night with a score of 4-3.
