The women’s golf team signed three recruits over the weekend.The new players include Dayna Burleigh of Horsham, Penn., Rachel Meikle of Fort Wayne, Ind.

The women’s crew team concluded its season with a ninth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships at the Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis.MSU finished with 29 points in the three-day event.

Jorgensen slips in final round, finishes 17th

Junior Eric Jorgensen tied for 17th in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at Ohio State’s Scarlet Golf Course on Saturday.Jorgensen shot a final round, two over-par 73 to finish with a four day total of 283 (72-69-69-73).He shot a strong front nine with eight pars and a birdie on the ninth hole.

Spartan runners finish strong at nationals

MSU senior Paul Terek ended his career at MSU by earning a second-place finish in the decathlon at the NCAA Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Baton Rogue, La.His second place showing is the highest in MSU history for a male competing in the decathlon.

Women’s golf finishes 19th, Bastel an All-American The women’s golf team finished in 19th place out of 24 teams at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships in Auburn, Wash. The Spartans four-day total of 1,202 was highlighted by their final-round score of 289.

U sends 5 to nationals to represent Spartans

Five MSU track athletes will represent the green and white in an attempt to attain All-America status.The Spartans will begin competition today at the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Baton Rouge, La.The group is headlined by senior Paul Terek.

Volleyball adds transfer

The volleyball team added transfer student Sara Villwock to its 2002 roster. Villwock, who appeared in 59 career games for Colorado, transferred to MSU after two years of play for the Buffaloes.

Pagel joins foreign tour

This summer, junior forward Julie Pagel will become the 14th Spartan to participate in the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Foreign Tour. The squad will travel to Belgium and Hollandfrom June 14-24, playing five games.

Golfers tied for 19th

After round one at the NCAA Women’s Golf National Championships on Tuesday, MSU was tied for 19th with a score of 305 - 20 strokes off the pace of tournament-leading Arizona. Sophomore Sarah Martin shot the lowest score of the day for the Spartans with a 2-over par 74, a personal best for the championships and a season-best for 18 holes.
