MSU fans will be allowed to attend spring football practice at 1 p.m. April 16 at Spartan Stadium. But because of the additions and constructions to the stadium, seating will be limited to the east stands. Spartans will have home ice for playoffs

If you've followed the MSU hockey team this season, you've been put through a roller coaster ride. You've witnessed the highs of beating nationally ranked New Hampshire and Michigan in overtime to win the Great Lakes Invitational. But at the same time, you've witnessed the lows of only being able to sweep a CCHA series once, which is partially the cause for MSU's current eighth-place status in the conference. After another series split this weekend against No.

MSU players, fans react to NHL's cancellation

The effects of the canceled National Hockey League season go far beyond just affecting the NHL players - there are many secondary effects in relation to the future careers of drafted college players and the NHL Entry Draft. Following Commissioner Gary Bettman's official cancellation of the 2004-05 NHL season Wednesday, players worldwide are all playing a wait-and-see game, including many current Spartans. Senior captain Jim Slater, a first-round 2002 draft pick of Atlanta, faces an uncertain professional career with the current position of the NHL's negotiations. "Until they get everything situated and figured out, then you can't really tell," Slater said of the affect the lockout might have on him. "I just love to play hockey and that's what I want to do, and if that means playing under new terms, then that's fine." Sophomore defenseman A.J.

MSU closes road trip at Iowa

With the Big Ten regular season coming to a close, the No. 9 MSU women's basketball team cannot afford a slip up anywhere along the way. This holds true for tonight, when the Spartans (22-3 overall, 11-2 Big Ten) wrap up their three-game road trip in Iowa (16-7, 5-7), a team they beat easily earlier this year. "We really need to pressure them a lot and wear their legs out," junior guard Lindsay Bowen said.

Winter ruined thanks to NHL's Bettman, Goodenow's inabilities to negotiate

During the past few days, I've developed a severe case of sailor mouth. Sailor mouth, for those of you unfamiliar with the term, is when you start cursing like a sailor. I can't even begin to speak of NHL "commissioner" Gary Bettman or NHL Players Association Executive Director Bob Goodenow without letting loose "f-bombs" strung together in an incoherent sentence with names intertwined.

McCallie pleased with team's depth

In a season filled with numerous accomplishments, other parts of the No. 9 MSU women's basketball team are being overlooked. In recent weeks, the Spartans have started to find that to be consistent and win games, they need a lot of team players and team depth. "My confidence is growing with every practice," MSU head coach Joanne P.
