Beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, tickets for the MSU football game against Florida Atlantic at 12 p.m. Sept. 11 at Ford Field will be on sale for the general public. Because the game is an away game, only MSU students who have bought season admission can buy tickets. Students are limited to buying three tickets and must pick them up at the visiting team’s will call on game day using two forms of ID and an e-mail confirmation.

Recognized for their excellence on the playing field last season, MSU football linebacker Greg Jones and field hockey midfielder Floor Rijpma were named the George Alderton Male and Female Athletes of the Year, MSU announced Monday. The award is given to the top male and female Spartan athlete at the end of each year.

Jake Chelios, brother of MSU sophomore forward Dean Chelios, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the MSU hockey team next fall. After one season in the United States Hockey League, during which he scored 12 goals and had 22 assists in 52 games, Jake Chelios decided to join three other MSU recruits in signing letters of intent for next fall.
A standout soccer player in high school, psychology and kinesiology senior Alexandria Jamison said she could have played college soccer somewhere else, but decided to come to MSU instead. Within her first year on campus, she was introduced to rugby, the game she now loves, at a women’s rugby football club practice that she almost didn’t attend.
