COLUMN: Junior guard Aerial Powers should not leave MSU to go into the WNBA Draft

The MSU women’s basketball team is coming off one of their most successful seasons while under the tenure of head coach Suzy Merchant. Last season, the Spartans reached the Big Ten Tournament championship game and proved to be one of the most dominant teams in the conference. MSU could be heavy contenders next season as well, but there are some unanswered questions the team will have to face between now and the start of the season — one of those questions will hinge on Aerial Powers.

MSU's Marvin Clark and Javon Bess will transfer

News broke Monday that MSU sophomore forward Marvin Clark Jr. will transfer schools. The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. MSU later confirmed the transfer to multiple media outlets. Clark appeared in 30 of 35 contests for the Spartans during the 2015-16 season, averaging 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game. Clark's transfer also opens up a scholarship for the 2016-17 season.

MSU commit Cassius Winston adds state title to his hardware collection

U-D Jesuit senior point guard and 2016 MSU basketball commit Cassius Winston had one more goal he wanted to accomplish for his high school basketball career. Already four time Catholic League champion and 2016 Hal Schram Mr. Basketball Award winner, Winston wanted to achieve something which had twice alluded him in the state semifinals in 2014 and 2015 -- an MHSAA Class A state championship.
