MSU's Marvin Clark and Javon Bess will transfer

News broke Monday that MSU sophomore forward Marvin Clark Jr. will transfer schools. The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. MSU later confirmed the transfer to multiple media outlets. Clark appeared in 30 of 35 contests for the Spartans during the 2015-16 season, averaging 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game. Clark's transfer also opens up a scholarship for the 2016-17 season.

U-D Jesuit senior point guard and 2016 MSU basketball commit Cassius Winston had one more goal he wanted to accomplish for his high school basketball career. Already four time Catholic League champion and 2016 Hal Schram Mr. Basketball Award winner, Winston wanted to achieve something which had twice alluded him in the state semifinals in 2014 and 2015 -- an MHSAA Class A state championship. MSU head coach Tom Izzo sad his seniors' career ended this way

There were five seconds left in No. 2 seed MSU’s shocking first round loss to the No. 15 seed Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. And it was then MSU’s three senior stars -- Denzel Valentine, Matt Costello and Bryn Forbes -- checked out of a game and walked off a basketball floor in an MSU jersey for the last time. It was really over. It had actually just happened. Middle Tennessee had knocked off MSU, 90-81, in one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history. Then, fifteen minutes after the final buzzer sounded, those same three visibly emotional players wiped away tears and walked with their arms around each other to face the media at a post game press conference. This is the way all their careers had come to an end -- 112 victories, a Sweet Sixteen, an Elite Eight, a Final Four and two Big Ten Tournament Championships later, they were done. “I can’t believe what’s going on,” Costello said.
