WASHINGTON D.C. — MSU now knows who it will be playing Thursday for the Spartans' first game in the Big Ten Tournament.
MSU men's basketball gathered on the Breslin Center floor Monday night for their annual banquet to celebrate the 2016-2017 season and hand out awards for individual success. Here is the list of award winners for MSU athletes this season.
In a unanimous decision Monday, freshman forward Miles Bridges has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year by coaches and media and has also been selected as to the All-Big Ten second-team. Bridges will join Illinois' Malcolm Hill, Northwestern's Bryant McIntosh, Michigan's Derrick Walton Jr., and Wisconsin's Bronson Koenig as the coaches' second-team selection.
In one final effort to secure the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, the Spartans traveled out to College Park, Md., to take on the University of Maryland Terrapins Saturday afternoon for the final game of the regular season.

MSU head coach Tom Izzo addressed the media on Monday for the first time since the team's 84-74 win over then-No. 16 Wisconsin Sunday and discussed the state of MSU basketball with the regular season concluding at the end of this week. The win over Wisconsin puts the Spartans in a three-way tie for third in the conference, along with Minnesota and Maryland.
For the first time this season, a freshman was named Big Ten Player of the Week along with Freshman of the Week.
