MSU men’s basketball (18-11 overall, 10-6) is riding a major high after their senior night win over then-No. 16 Wisconsin. Now that MSU is more likely than not in the big dance, they will start their March with a potential trap game against the Illinois Fighting Illini (17-12 overall, 7-9).
MSU head coach Tom Izzo addressed the media on Monday for the first time since the team's 84-74 win over then-No. 16 Wisconsin Sunday and discussed the state of MSU basketball with the regular season concluding at the end of this week. The win over Wisconsin puts the Spartans in a three-way tie for third in the conference, along with Minnesota and Maryland.
After recording a .625 batting average in MSU softball's three-game sweep on the road against Loyola Marymount, junior center fielder Lea Foerster was named Big Ten Conference Player of the Week.
For the first time this season, a freshman was named Big Ten Player of the Week along with Freshman of the Week.

From fighting for her life at birth to fighting on the court as a Spartan, Jankoska has had a rollercoaster ride worth of experiences, but right now it seems she at the top and not coming down any time soon.
The flashing lights, band blaring at full volume and a standing ovation from the Izzone and Breslin Center crowd, that was the send off for MSU men’s basketball senior class. Going out with an 84-74 win over No. 16 Wisconsin, seniors Alvin Ellis III, Matt Van Dyk and even Eron Harris were able to play their final game at home.
Whilst runners donning green and white finished their respective races at the Big Ten Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, some would find the aftereffects of the dreaded lactic acid in their sore muscles. It ultimately leads to an uncomfortable recovery, but it's a reality many are accustomed to.
