“With the 16th pick of the 22nd round, the Detroit Tigers select Christopher Luke Wilcox, outfielder from St. John’s High School.” Christopher Luke Wilcox himself heard a Detroit Tigers representative say those words on June 1, 1992. Playing for a hometown team like the Detroit Tigers must have been a dream come true, but Wilcox turned it down. He wasn’t ready for the big leagues yet.

When asked Tuesday about sophomore guard Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn Jr.'s chances of playing on Saturday when No. 10 MSU will travel to Ann Arbor to take on in-state rival Michigan, MSU head coach Tom Izzo said his starting point-guard was "doubtful at best."

MSU hockey lost 2-1 to Ohio State Saturday night. The two teams split the series 1-1, with MSU defeating the Buckeyes 4-2 on Friday. The split is MSU's first time not losing a series since Dec. 11, 2015.

Austin Thornton has always had a knack for shooting. Playing in high school at Cedar Springs High School, he averaged 26 points per game his senior season, shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 86.3 percent from the free-throw line. In fact, he holds the Michigan High School record for most made free throws with 572 and places second with 54 consecutive makes from the charity stripe.
