MSU student competes in Spartan Stampede, rodeos across the state

Outside a small stable in Charlotte, Mich., a high-pitched neigh rings through the air as animal science sophomore Hanna Menne’s horse, Fancy, warms up for practice. Menne, a barrel racer, practices four to five times a week in the two to three weeks before an event. This time around, the pair was getting ready for the Spartan Stampede. This would be their first time competing in the Spartan Stampede.

On Sunday the No. 25-ranked MSU women’s basketball team (20-7 overall, 11-5 conference) hosted the Minnesota Golden Gophers (18-9 overall, 10-6 conference) in a matchup that will define the Big Ten standings. MSU beat the Gophers in thrilling fashion by a final score of 114-106.

In the opening segment of the broadcast of the game the word consistency was uttered multiple times as a key to victory tonight for MSU hockey (8-20-3, 4-10-1-0) and Wisconsin (6-14-7,1-9-3-1). With both teams struggling to string together wins throughout the year it wouldn’t be consistency that ultimately decided the back and forth contest.
