Entering the fall season, economics senior Jason Stacy was destined to be a crucial player for the Spartan men’s soccer team. After being named a Big Ten preseason player to watch, as well as being the top returning scorer for the Spartans with four goals and seven assists, Stacy was more than motivated to achieve success in his senior season. However, on Wednesday October 8th Stacy faced a roadblock on his path to success. “I tore my PCL on Wednesday against Oakland and need to surgery,” Stacy said.

MSU head basketball coach Tom Izzo doesn’t know what it is. All the 21st-year head coach of the preseason No. 13 ranked Spartans knows is this — he’s feeling great. But if there’s something else the 60-year-old coach is feeling, it’s drive; a drive to do more than just knock on the championship door year-after-year. In the last three years, Izzo’s teams have advanced to a Sweet Sixteen, an Elite Eight and a Final Four. For Izzo, he feels it’s about time that door opens.

However, despite the comfortable margin of victory and MSU finishing with 29 assists on 35 made shots, head coach Tom Izzo said there were a few things for his team to sort out before for the regular season. And the first thing on Izzo's mind -- defense. "I told you on media day that the one thing with this team, is they've got a lot of shooters," Izzo said at the post game press conference Monday night.

However, the Cornhuskers game-winning touchdown probably should have been called back as junior wide receiver Brandon Reilly clearly stepped out of bounds on his own free will. Former Vice President of Officiating in the National Football League and current Rules Analyst at FOX Sports Mike Pereira offered his opinion on the controversial touchdown in a series of tweets. The Spartans undefeated season is over, but the Big Ten Championship is still in reach, MSU has to run the table.
Whatever sparked MSU’s shooting urge over the weekend, they might need to keep it. MSU (4-3-1) put on another clinic of shooting, skating, and electric plays Saturday, looking like a team finding its stride and exerting confidence in a 7-4 drubbing of New Hampshire (3-4-1). “We expected a different game than last night,” head coach Tom Anastos said.
